Davids Timber Ltd offers a cross-cutting service using a chop saw for reclaimed railway sleepers, a mitre saw for new railway sleepers, and a circular saw for timber posts and boards.

Please note that our cutting service is available exclusively for timber purchased from Davids Timber Ltd. We are unable to cut timber supplied by customers or purchased elsewhere.

Before placing an order requiring cutting, please note that the thickness of the saw blade (saw kerf) removes approximately 5 mm per cut when using the chop saw, and approximately 3 mm per cut when using the mitre saw or circular saw.

We only cut timber crosswise, reducing the length. We do not cut timber lengthwise to reduce its width or depth, nor do we offer angled cuts.

When placing your order online, please include your required cutting measurements in the order notes. Once your order has been placed, we will email you a separate invoice for the applicable cutting charges.

Our cutting charges are as follows:

• Reclaimed railway sleepers: £7.20 per cut
  
• New railway sleepers: £6.00 per cut
  
• Boards and fence posts: £3.60 per cut
  

All cutting charges are inclusive of VAT.

Alternatively, you can contact us directly with your delivery address and an approximate quantity and type of material required, and we will be happy to provide a delivery quotation.

Delivery Conditions

Please note that deliveries by flatbed van or rigid HIAB lorry are kerbside deliveries only. This means that the goods will be unloaded in a safe and suitable location close to the vehicle, most commonly on a driveway.

Our deliveries are carried out by one driver only. The driver will unload the goods but cannot be expected to move them any further from the unloading location. Please ensure that additional assistance is available if you require the goods to be moved elsewhere on your property.

We can provide deliveries using the following vehicles:

• Flatbed van – Ford Transit, either tipper or dropside.
• Curtainsider articulated lorry – available where suitable unloading equipment, such as a forklift or telehandler, is available at the delivery address and there is sufficient space to accommodate an articulated vehicle.
• 30 ft, 18-tonne rigid HIAB lorry – or a larger vehicle where required.

In most cases, the above delivery options are listed from the lowest to the highest delivery cost.
