Heavy Duty Wooden Garden Furniture, Built From Our Own Timber

We are a timber merchant first, so the garden furniture we sell is built the way we would build it for ourselves - from solid, properly sized timber rather than the thin slats you find flat-packed in a box. It is heavy, it is meant to stay outside, and it is meant to last.

Rectangular picnic tables

The classic A-frame picnic table with attached bench seats. One piece, no assembly puzzle, nothing to wobble. It is the most practical piece of garden furniture there is: seats a family, doubles as a work surface, and holds up to being left out all year.

We offer it in two finishes:

  • Standard heavy duty - sawn timber, robust and ready to use. Left to weather naturally it silvers off to a soft grey.
  • PAR varnished - planed all round and varnished, so the timber is smooth to the touch with a finished surface. Choose this if it is going somewhere it will be seen and used daily.

What PAR actually means

PAR stands for Planed All Round. Sawn timber comes straight off the saw with a rough surface. PAR timber has been machined smooth on every face. On a picnic table it makes a real difference - no splinters on forearms, no rough edges where children sit, and varnish sits properly on a planed surface.

Looking after it outdoors

  • Keep the legs off standing water. Timber sitting in a puddle will rot from the feet up. A slab, gravel or a level bit of hard standing is enough.
  • Re-treat every year or two. A coat of exterior wood treatment or varnish before winter keeps water out and the colour in.
  • Let it weather if you prefer. Untreated timber silvers naturally and many people prefer that look. It is a finish choice, not a durability problem, as long as the timber can dry out between soakings.
  • Cover it or do not - your call. If you cover it, make sure air can still move underneath. A sheet trapping damp against timber does more harm than rain.

Delivery

Garden furniture is heavy, so this is not something to squeeze into a car. We deliver up to 175 miles from our yards at Dunstable (LU6 3QL) and Brigg (DN20 0BN) on a dropside or tipper van, unloaded by hand. Larger and trade orders go nationwide on a hiab or artic.

We confirm your ETA the day before delivery, so you are not waiting in all day for it.

Collection

You are welcome to collect. Dunstable is open Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5pm and Saturday 7:30am to 3pm - call ahead on 07498617279 so we can have it ready and load it for you. Brigg is by appointment.

Bear in mind these tables are genuinely heavy. Bring a van or an estate with the seats down, and ideally a second pair of hands.

We supply the timber for garden furniture as well as the finished tables. If you are building your own benches, tables or seating, our scaffold and hardwood boards are what most people use, and we can cut them to your measurements before they leave the yard.
